Steven M. Parrish, Esq.
Mr. Parrish has spent the past 20 years representing employers with operations throughout Florida and the United States in all aspects of labor and employment law. Previously an attorney and Partner in one of Florida's preeminent law firms for 13 years, Mr. Parrish opened Steven M. Parrish, P.A. in 2011 to provide highly responsive, personalized and cost-effective representation to his many clients. Mr. Parrish's focus is always on making the law work to help his Client's diverse businesses, not cripple it through the legal process.
While well-versed in business litigation and legal strategies, Mr. Parrish is primarily focused in employment law compliance and litigation defense in virtually every industry, including distribution, banking, retail, aviation services, security, private clubs, hospitality, insurance, restaurants, healthcare, medical practices, nursing homes, property management, real estate development, construction, accounting, law firms, and not for profit.
Mr. Parrish has successfully defended and resolved all types of employment litigation in both state and federal courts, including cases under the Fair Labor Standards Act, Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, The Americans with Disabilities Act, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, the False Claims Act and the Family Medical Leave Act. Mr. Parrish also frequently defends employers who are caught up in government agency investigations and proceedings.
A significant portion of Mr. Parrish's practice is also dedicated to providing his employer clients with day-to-day advice on all aspects of employee human resource issues, including termination decisions, disciplinary actions, wage and hour issues, sexual harassment/hostile work environment investigations, the ADA, leaves of absence and employment discrimination. Additionally, Mr. Parrish also advises clients on executive employment agreements, non-competition agreements and employment policies and procedures.
Mr. Parrish provides training presentations to employers and also lectures various organizations on topics of significance in the area of labor and employment law.
Mr. Parrish has also been a leader and business community representative in Florida's workforce development system, which is known as the CareerSource Florida Network.
Community and Advisory Positions
- Past Chairman and Member of the Board of Directors, CareerSource Palm Beach County which is Palm Beach County's workforce development board. CareerSource Palm Beach County is chartered by the State of Florida to work with Palm Beach County businesses and job seekers to provide job placement, recruitment assistance and funds for skills training.
- Past Chairman and Member, Florida Workforce Chairs Alliance which is an alliance of Chairs, Vice Chairs and Past Chairs of Florida's 24 regional workforce development boards.
- Past Member, CareerSource Florida Executive Committee. CareerSource Florida is charged with overseeing Florida's workforce system and developing strategies to help Floridians enter and advance in the workforce, while supporting economic development priorities and strengthening the state's business climate.
- Past Board Member, Palm Beach Education Commission, a group of business leaders and education professionals dedicated to education reform and improved social and job preparation skills.
- Past Council Member, CareerSource Florida, Inc.'s Performance and Accountability Council.
- Past Board Member of the Chamber of Commerce of the Palm Beaches.
